The Cutler Bay Wetlands is situated just off Old Cutler Road (SW 224 Street) in the Town of Cutler Bay in Miami-Dade County, South Florida. Formerly called Cutler Ridge, the Town of Cutler Bay was incorporated November 8, 2005. It has a population of just fewer than 50,000 and is also home to the Southland Mall formerly named Cutler Ridge Mall.
There are many species of birds that visit this 54 acre swampland. On any given day and, depending on the time of the year, you are likely to see quite a variety of avian life feeding and wading in the shallow waters of this tucked away everglade.
Following are some of the avian variety that sporadically visit this marshland which is slightly north of Homestead, Florida: Great Egret, Snowy Egret, American White Pelican, Great blue Heron, Little Blue Heron, Anhinga, Wood Duck, Northern Pintail, Cattle Egret, Green Heron, White Ibis, Glossy Ibis, Sandpipers, Sea Gulls … just to name a few. About Winston D Munnings
Originally from the Caribbean region, Winston was born in Nassau, the historic capital of the 700 Islands of The Bahamas archipelago. He is a former print media and broadcast journalist and a Bahamas-based correspondent for United Press International (UPI). During the early 80s, Winston anchored Radio and Television news at the Broadcasting Corporation of the Bahamas, where he was employed as a News Editor. He is now retired after almost two decades in the Diplomatic Service of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas. He was among the first diplomats to be posted overseas after the Bahamas gained independence from the United Kingdom (Great Britain) on July 10, 1973.
